Co-relate intern Ellie Belleni reflects on her month working with us at Marine Studios, Margate.

My time at Co-relate has been amazing and it has been a pleasure working for Jess and everyone else that I have met on the way. I've learnt so much working here, not only improving my graphic design skills, but also lots of necessary life skills that will help me in the future with my career. These include proof reading, note taking, attending meetings, and working for clients.

One project that I have been working on is designing a series of posters for The Shop Front. I have learnt so much working with Jon and Cato, two graphic designers, from how they read a brief to setting up their portfolio to working on this project with them and how they have tackled it compared to how I started it. It has been really influential getting advice from designers and looking at their projects as it puts it into perspective what a career in graphic design could look like.

As well as this, I have thoroughly enjoyed working for Co-relate at Marine Studios, where I have taken on many different projects including branding concepts for a housing campaign, social media assets for Poets for the Planet, photography for Access, Arts and Adventures and designing a quotes book and specification guide for Margate Bookie. Finally, I also produced work for Co-relate itself, attending and note taking meetings, designing campaign slides, updating their website and making a credentials slide deck.

Working for Co-relate has opened up lots of new contacts for future projects with people with a variety of skills as everyone is doing something different. I have loved every minute of working for Jess, she has been a great mentor, assisting me when needed and really pushing me to create outcomes to the best of my ability that we are both really happy with. I’m really grateful for this opportunity and I believe that I have made the most out of this four week placement with everything that I have achieved.
