Margate Bookshop Writers' Room

A workspace for readers, writers and creatives, The Margate Bookshop Writers' Room is a welcoming studio space for writers to book for exclusive use above the Margate Bookshop.

Co-relate pioneered it as a mulit-use space where writers were encouraged to make themselves at home before the COVID-19 pandemic. The Margate Bookshop and Co-relate wanted the bookshop to be a place for the reading and writing community to come together. They launched The Margate Bookshop Writer's Room in early August 2019 and have since hosted book launches, poetry nights and several resident published writers.

Designed to support local and visiting writers, the space offered very affordable desk space, comfy reading chairs, printing and phone charging. It was also home to local poetry critique group, Margate Stanza and welcomed local book groups, youth groups, book talks and readings.

While the Margate Bookshop Writers room is no longer open to all, it is still being used by writers. Local published writers Ros Anderson and Chris Macdonald both worked on their recent books there.

Get in touch with The Margate Bookshop to find out how to book the room.
